Charlie is a founding shareholder in the firm of Reilly, Fisher & Solomon, P.A. and has over 25 years in public practice. Prior to the formation of the new firm, Charlie was a manager in the Private Client Services practice of Arthur Andersen's Florida Market Circle Tax Division, having joined the firm in January 1994. He received his A.B. in History from Princeton University and his M.Acc. degree in Taxation from the University of South Florida.
Charlie has deep experience in the area of individual, estate and trust taxation and personal financial planning. His interests in individual taxation and the analysis of investments have also led to a focus on investment taxation issues and tax efficient charitable giving. Charlie also has experience in addressing wealth transfer matters of concern to the individual taxpayer, and took his Masters level elective tax coursework in estate and gift tax planning and advanced partnership taxation. He also has extensive experience in tax compliance for trusts, estates, partnerships, S corporations and individuals.
Charlie is an investment advisory practitioner at Reilly, Fisher & Solomon. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, having completed a rigorous three examination series on investment theory and mathematics, and has had continuous involvement in engagements involving the rendering of investment advice throughout his career.
Charlie is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Florida. He is a member of the AICPA's Personal Financial Planning Division, and has also been designated by the AICPA as Accredited in Business Valuation and as a Personal Financial Specialist. He has also earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner. Charlie has passed the NASD Series 2 & 65 examinations.
Charlie is also actively involved in business valuation at the firm. In his career he has performed many appraisals, and also has experience defending such appraisals before the IRS at the examination level and at the Appeals Office level. Charlie has been published in Valuation Strategies magazine, co-authoring the article "Valuation Discounts on Family Limited Partnerships: Why the Nature of the Underlying Assets Shouldn't Matter" (Jan/Feb 1999).
Charlie is a former Chairman of the Board of the Tampa Bay Chapter American Red Cross. He is a member of the Planned Giving Committee of the Tampa General Hospital Foundation and has in the past served as a board member of the Tampa Connection, the Princeton Club of Tampa Bay, and the Alumni Executive Committee of Berkeley Preparatory School. Charlie is also currently First Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Tampa Bay Estate Planning Council, and Treasurer of the Florida Ornithological Society. He is married to Elizabeth Fisher, and they have four children. Charlie has been a resident of Tampa since childhood.
